These terms apply when you hire a skip or use any waste service from Skor Skips (Pty) Ltd (“Skor”, “we”, “us”), trading from 4 Lupin Ave, Primrose, Germiston. By confirming a booking, signing a service note, or ticking “I accept” on our website or customer account, you (“the customer”) agree to them.
1. Bookings
1.1 A request made online, by WhatsApp, phone or email is a request only. A booking exists once we confirm it to you.
1.2 Delivery days are confirmed with you. We aim to meet any time preference (such as “early”) but cannot guarantee a time.
1.3 You must give us an accurate delivery address, a contact number for the site and any access requirements (gates, estates, security, parking).
2. Hire period and extensions
2.1 The standard hire period is up to 3 days for 2m³ and 3m³ skips and up to 7 days for 6m³ skips, counted from the delivery date, unless your quote or contract says otherwise.
2.2 Keeping a skip beyond the hire period is charged at our extension rates as published or quoted at the time.
2.3 You can ask for a collection, a swap or more time at any time. We confirm the collection day with you.
3. Prices and payment
3.1 Prices on our website include VAT at 15% and apply to non-compactable waste. Contract clients pay the rates in their contract.
3.2 Payment is due as agreed when you book, or as set out in your account or contract.
3.3 Additional charges may apply for: overloading; heavy material in a skip with a weight restriction; prohibited items; a wasted trip where we cannot deliver or collect because of access or the site not being ready; extra waiting time. These are charged at the rates we quote at the time.
4. Loading the skip
4.1 Load the skip level with its top edge. Nothing may stick out over the sides or ends. We may refuse to lift an overfilled or unsafe skip until it has been levelled, and a wasted-trip charge may apply.
4.2 Heavy material (bricks, concrete, soil, rubble) is limited by weight, not just volume. The 3m³ skip has a weight restriction on heavy material, and a 6m³ skip filled with heavy material may only be filled to the level we advise. Ask us before loading heavy waste.
4.3 Never put these in a skip: hazardous waste (including paint, solvents, oils, chemicals, pesticides, asbestos, and medical or clinical waste), liquids, gas cylinders, fuel, batteries, fridges and freezers, animal carcasses, and anything else listed as prohibited on our website. Tyres only by prior arrangement. Hazardous waste is collected separately, after inspection and analysis.
4.4 If prohibited items are found, we may refuse collection until they are removed, or remove and dispose of them correctly at your cost.
4.5 Do not light fires in or near the skip. You are responsible for damage to the skip caused by fire or misuse.
5. Placement, access and the site
5.1 You choose where the skip is placed. The spot must be level and firm enough to carry a loaded skip and our truck, with clear access for the truck (at least 3 metres wide, with no low wires, branches or overhangs).
5.2 If the skip must stand on a public road or pavement, you are responsible for any permission the municipality requires, and for the skip being visible and safe to road users.
5.3 Our driver may refuse to place a skip where it would be unsafe. If we cannot deliver or collect because access is blocked or the site is not ready, a wasted-trip charge may apply.
5.4 Do not move the skip after delivery or let anyone else move it.
5.5 Placing and lifting a skip can mark or crack driveways, paving and kerbs, especially if they are not built for heavy vehicles. Because you choose where the skip is placed, we are not responsible for this kind of damage unless it was caused by our negligence.
5.6 The skip remains our property. You are responsible for it, and for its contents, while it is on your site, including loss, theft and damage beyond normal wear.
6. Our responsibilities
6.1 We are a licensed waste carrier. We take collected waste to licensed facilities and separate recyclables where possible.
6.2 We will provide services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, where it applies.
6.3 We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as weather, road closures, load-shedding, strikes or unrest. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service concerned.
7. Cancellations
7.1 You may cancel a booking before the truck leaves our depot at no charge.
8. Customer accounts
8.1 Requests made through your online account are handled as in clause 1. You must keep your password secure and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
9. General
9.1 These terms are governed by South African law. Where you have a signed contract with us, the contract applies if it differs from these terms. We may update these terms; the version on our website when you book applies.
9.2 Questions: info@skorskips.co.za or 081 242 0299.
